You certainly don’t need a reminder that summer is here, given the heatwave we’ve been going through in St. Louis for the last week. At the Special Education Foundation and with most other nonprofits, the end of June is also a time for reflection and planning, as June 30th marks the end of our fiscal year.
Unless you work in the nonprofit sector, that date doesn’t have all that much significance since it only marks the midpoint of the year on the calendar.
But for those of us who do work at nonprofits, it’s a time of year for renewal, as we gather stories of the impact of our work assisting students with disabilities in St. Louis County.
There’s the story of Delilah, who attended We Rock The Spectrum camp in Fenton last summer with support from our Kid-to-Camp program.
According to her mom, “Delilah loved going to the camp, got excited every day she arrived, and we had zero issues with leaving her there.”
Delilah made new friends from all over the St. Louis area at the camp, and it helped her prepare for school and develop her social skills to continue throughout the summer. Delilah’s mom added that, “She is an only child, so the isolation without others would have been detrimental for her over the summer.”
Delilah is one of dozens of examples of the positive impact that SEF has on the children we assist with our many programs.
Whether it’s sending a kid to camp, furnishing hearing aids for a student, bringing arts performances to schools, providing college scholarships for a student to continue their education beyond high school, or being a part of the Fred Saigh Leadership Academy, we help thousands of students with tools and opportunities needed to succeed in and out of the classroom.
Now, getting back to June 30th.
It marks the end of our fiscal year, a crucial period where we evaluate our financial health and plan for the upcoming year. Your donation today will help us end the 2025 fiscal year on a positive note, ensuring we can continue our vital work.
Every donation makes a difference. Every dollar helps us improve the lives of students.
Even a modest contribution of $5, $10, or $25 per month, starting today, can make a significant difference in the lives of students like Delilah, enabling them to attend life-changing programs.
We sincerely appreciate your consideration and support. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
