Joylynn Pruitt-Adams Joins SEF Board of Directors

The Special Education Foundation (SEF) is proud to welcome Dr. Joylynn Pruitt-Adams to its Board of Directors. A seasoned educator and leader, Dr. Pruitt-Adams brings over four decades of experience in public education, with a steadfast commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success.

Dr. Pruitt-Adams began her career as a special education teacher, later serving as an elementary school principal and assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction. She earned her doctorate in educational policy and leadership from the University of Missouri–St. Louis, along with degrees in elementary and special education.

Her leadership roles include serving as superintendent of the School District of University City, where she implemented restorative justice practices and expanded advanced coursework opportunities. She also led Oak Park and River Forest High School District 200 in Illinois, focusing on racial and gender equity, detracking initiatives, and comprehensive facilities improvements.

Most recently, Dr. Pruitt-Adams served as acting superintendent of the Riverview Gardens School District, guiding the district through strategic planning and community engagement efforts.

In addition to her superintendent roles, Dr. Pruitt-Adams contributes to the Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA) as an executive coach, mentoring emerging educational leaders.

Dr. Pruitt-Adams's extensive experience and dedication to inclusive education make her a valuable addition to the SEF Board. Her insights will support the Foundation's mission to enhance educational opportunities for students with disabilities in St. Louis County.
