About the Program

Since its launch in the fall of 2004, the Fred Saigh Leadership Academy has provided high school students with disabilities the chance to expand their horizons beyond the traditional classroom setting. This innovative program selects up to 20 students each year, equipping them with the tools, experiences, and confidence to step into leadership roles and create lasting change.

A Year of Growth and Leadership Development

The academy’s year-long curriculum is designed to foster essential leadership skills through interactive training sessions and hands-on experiences. Students not only learn how to lead but also engage with real-world challenges facing their communities.

Each month, participants embark on immersive visits to key institutions and organizations throughout the metropolitan area, meeting influential community leaders and gaining valuable insights into civic engagement, business, and government. These experiences empower students to see the broader impact of leadership and inspire them to take action.

Throughout the program, students are encouraged to think critically about their potential and step into leadership roles within their schools and beyond.
