Accepting Applications for Spring and Summer Breaks

Are you ready to make spring and summer breaks unforgettable for your child? Applications are now open for the Special Education Foundation’s (SEF) Kid-to-Camp program! This initiative provides financial assistance to families of children served by the Special School District, helping students enjoy enriching camp experiences during school breaks.

About the Kid-to-Camp Program

SEF understands the importance of bridging the instructional gap during school breaks. The Kid-to-Camp program ensures students can continue their growth beyond the classroom, benefiting from the social and educational aspects that camps offer.

Area camp programs provide more than just fun. They create opportunities for students to interact with peers, develop friendships, and build relationships that foster confidence and independence. These experiences are instrumental in helping children thrive.

Financial Assistance to Make It Possible

SEF’s Kid-to-Camp Program helps alleviate the financial burden of camp costs for families. Campership funds are awarded based on financial need and the potential benefits to the student. Many of these funds are generously supported by SEF’s annual golf tournament and other fundraising efforts.

“My daughter had the opportunity to meet new peers and enjoyed the fun activities that the camp offered--crafts; fun recreation activities all while building her social skills.” ~Happy Mom

“Breaks from school are so hard for special needs families.  The kids are out of their routine, parents have to work, parks aren't fenced so it's unsafe, it's too hot to be outside all the time, and there are not enough spaces where kids of all abilities are welcome. Thank you SEF for supporting families with special needs kiddos!” ~Grateful Mother

“Attending camp allowed my son to make some new friends and it was his first overnight experience. As parents, we got a break for the first time in 11 years. Thank you SEF!” ~ Thankful Parent

“My son got to meet new friends, experience different field trips, and he even learned how to play the drums!  We are grateful our family was able to experience the program.”  ~Thrilled Dad
