As students with disabilities approach the transition from the Special School District (SSD), the Special Education Foundation (SEF) is here to help bridge the gap in perception and communication through our Adaptive & Assistive Equipment Program.
Thanks to a generous grant from The Tilles Foundation, we offer financial assistance to students up to 21 years of age who are completing their final year with SSD. This program helps provide essential equipment that students need to succeed as they enter the next stage of life, whether it be further education, employment, or independent living.
What We Fund
Our grants support the purchase of specialized equipment, including:
- Augmentative communication devices
- Adaptive equipment
- Technology items
- Audiology devices and eyeglasses (applicable to all ages served by SSD)
These resources are crucial for enhancing independence, improving quality of life, and enabling students to thrive beyond SSD’s support.
Key Details
- Applications must be initiated by an SSD professional (e.g., your SSD teacher).
- Financial need is a significant factor in the decision-making process.
Get Started
If you or someone you know is aging out of SSD this year and requires adaptive equipment, talk to your SSD teacher about starting the application process today.
