Starting 2025 with Purpose and Generosity

As we welcome 2025, it’s the perfect time to reflect on ways to make a positive impact in our communities. English author John Bunyan once said, “You have not lived until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” This timeless sentiment reminds us that charity comes in many forms, beyond just financial contributions.

Here are simple, meaningful ways to give back in the new year:

  • Donate Blood: A single blood donation can save up to three lives, making it one of the most impactful gifts you can give.
  • Share Your Skills: Offer your talents, whether in writing, photography, or sewing, to nonprofits that need support but lack the budget for specialized services.
  • Declutter for Good: Donate gently-used clothes, furniture, or toys to those in need.
  • Shop with Purpose: Use charity-linked credit cards or shop with brands that donate a portion of proceeds to nonprofits.
  • Volunteer Your Time: Whether at local events or ongoing programs, your time and effort can create lasting change.

For those looking to make an even greater impact in 2025, consider supporting the Special Education Foundation (SEF). Our mission is to help students with disabilities served by the Special School District achieve greater independence, develop social skills, and reach their life aspirations. You can contribute to SEF’s mission in the following ways:

  • Volunteer: Share your time and skills at SEF events or programs.
  • Join the SEF Women Leaders: This dynamic group funds unique projects for students and supports principals in creating meaningful opportunities for children with disabilities.
  • Attend SEF Events: Participate in fundraisers such as the annual Dan McLaughlin Charity Golf Tournament, celebrate the Starfish Award winners with us, and participate in other community events.
  • Spread the Word: Share SEF’s mission with friends, family, and colleagues to grow our community of support.
  • Make a DonationEvery contribution, no matter the size, directly supports programs like the Classroom Innovation Grants, Critical Needs, and other crucial initiatives.

As we set our personal resolutions for the year, setting realistic, specific, and achievable resolutions can help us start 2025 on the right foot. Let’s also commit to making a difference for those who need it most. View the 2024 Annual Report and see the impact we have made together last year.

As we start 2025, we can build a brighter future for students with disabilities and create a stronger, more inclusive community.

Here’s to a year of purpose, generosity, and impact!
