The Northview Players celebrated their 9th production season this year with their performance of The Rainbow Fish — A colorful tale about the value of friendship and the sharing of oneself. Support for this performance comes from a grant to SEF from the Employees Community Fund of Boeing St. Louis
The theater was transformed into a vibrant underwater wonderland, immersing the audience in a colorful under-the-sea adventure. Every detail reflected the hard work and creativity of the ensemble, cast, and crew, bringing to life a dazzling ocean world filled with imagination and endless possibilities.
Northview Players Director Ms. Barb Raney led the production:
“Through the years we’ve found a few stand out students who have learned their lines, would fill in when another student was absent, and assist others when needed,” stated Raney.
“This year we have seen more students stepping up into these roles of leadership than ever before.
For the first time ever, we have an original song written by a student, musical entertainment before the show, and students who contributed choreography. We have many students assisting other actors (both on stage and behind the scenes) and we have several students who have stepped in as student directors.”
Arts and music programs for children and youth with disabilities offer transformative benefits, enhancing self-esteem, social interaction, and language skills while fostering an appreciation for the arts. Many students discover hidden talents and new passions as evident in Northview’s production of The Rainbow Fish.
The Special Education Foundation provided funding for this play through its SEF Presents! Arts in the Classroom program, supported by the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis. SEF recognizes the importance of fine arts in the education of students with disabilities and supports numerous performances for those served by the Special School District annually. These initiatives not only inspire joy and emotional expression but also promote a sense of community and belonging, enriching students’ overall well-being.
SEF was presented with a treasure chest filled with thank you cards on-stage
SEF will continue each year to help support the Northview Players’ productions among other creative performances coming up this school year. View our Events Calendar for more information, dates, and locations.
