22 Years of the Dan McLaughlin Charity Golf Tournament and Auction

Around 22 years ago, Dan McLaughlin learned about Caroline Kijowski, a young girl with multiple special needs, from her father, Bob. At the time, Dan and Bob were colleagues at Fox Sports Midwest. Bob shared that Caroline’s disabilities required more support than the Special School District could provide.

Caroline’s story deeply moved Dan, and witnessing how the Special Education Foundation (SEF) had positively impacted her life inspired him. Driven by this personal connection, Dan took the lead in creating an event that would benefit the foundation.

The inaugural four-player scramble took place at the Norwood Hills Country Club in 2003. Fast forward to today, and the 22nd anniversary of the golf tournament and auction is scheduled for Monday, October 14, 2024, once again at Norwood.

Over the past two decades, this tournament has raised millions of dollars to support countless children. The funds have enabled students to receive hearing aids, pursue higher education, enjoy summer camps, acquire eyeglasses, access assistive communication devices, and explore arts and innovative opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.

Dan’s charity event stands as the largest fundraiser for the Special Education Foundation. Dozens of businesses, hundreds of golfers, and many friends of SEF and SSD come together for a day of fun on the golf course, followed by an evening of spirited bidding in the silent and live auctions.

Join us in making a difference! Whether you’re a golfer, a sponsor, or an auction enthusiast, your participation directly impacts the lives of students with disabilities.
