SEF is accepting more applications for next year’s Fred Saigh Leadership Academy - now through April 12, 2024!

SEF looks for those high school students to embark on a transformative journey that will expand horizons and shape their lives as future leaders. The Leadership Academy invites more applicants to join us for exciting and enriching experiences! (Transportation will be provided for those who need it.)

As participants in our program, the students have the opportunity to engage with key leaders and explore prominent sites throughout the metropolitan area. Each month, selected students dedicate a day to visit various locations, developing connections and gaining invaluable insights into the institutions that drive our community forward.

This month, the students visited the State Capitol in Jefferson City, Missouri to meet. They toured the capitol, observed the House of Representatives in session, and with our state representatives.

The students had a meet and greet at lunch and met with Representative Deb Lavender, a Democrat, who represents part of St. Louis County (District 98) in the Missouri House of Representatives. She was elected to her fourth term in November 2022, after previously serving three terms in the legislature from 2014- 2020. District 98 includes Manchester, Twin Oaks and Valley Park.

The Academy thanks Representative Gretchen Bangert, a Democrat, represents Florissant, Hazelwood and parts of Bridgeton as she sponsors the Academy each year. They also thank Vandalia Bus Lines for the transportation to and from the Capitol.

The visit to the State Capitol is a class favorite each year. Here's a glimpse of next year’s sessions:

  • Visits to essential institutions such as the St. Louis County Executive’s Office, the Delmar DivINe, and the Holocaust Museum
  • Meetings with influential leaders who are shaping the landscape of our community
  • Immersive experiences that will deepen the understanding of how our institutions work to meet the diverse needs of our citizens

By participating in the Leadership Academy, they not only expand their knowledge but also cultivate essential leadership skills that will serve them well in academic and professional endeavors.

Don't miss out on sharing this incredible opportunity to make a difference and shape student futures. Applications are being accepted now through April 12. Unlock a world of possibilities!
