The John Cary Scholarships are dedicated to graduating students who receive services from the Special School District of St. Louis County in special education and/or technical education.

Intending to pursue a college, university, or trade school education, selected students will embody the qualities highly esteemed by John Cary – resilience, courage, and determination.

The scholarship committee assesses applicants based on academics, leadership, community volunteer activities, and achievements in athletics and/or the arts. Well-rounded individuals, particularly those demonstrating excellence in a specific area, are encouraged to apply.

The ability to overcome challenges holds significance in the screening process, with consideration given to financial need and teacher recommendations. The funds are designated for tuition expenses only

Teacher Involvement: Once the student has submitted his/her scholarship application, teachers are required to complete the Teacher Application Form and submit a letter of recommendation, nominating the student for consideration.

Application Period for 2024-2025: Scholarship applications for the academic year 2024-2025 can be submitted until January 26, 2024. For further information or assistance with the online application process, please reach out to the Foundation at 314-394-7030 or via email at info@sef-stl.org.
