New programs and a new scholarship were among the highlights in the Special Education Foundation’s 2025 Annual Report, which is now available on our website. We also have printed copies available if you would like one.
The report covers our 2025 fiscal year, which ran from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.
During this 12-month period, SEF helped nearly 8,000 students in St. Louis County who receive services from the Special School District (SSD).
The report recaps our two major fundraising events: the Dan McLaughlin Charity Golf Tournament and the 2025 Starfish Awards.
Another highlight of the year was The Mobility Project, SEF’s life-changing partnership with SSD, which provides students with physical disabilities access to adaptive mobility equipment they might not otherwise receive. SEF raised $40,000 at the golf tournament for this initiative, which placed four powered wheelchairs in schools across St. Louis County.
In addition to The Mobility Project, SEF expanded two new programs during the 2025 fiscal year. SEF Presents!, our series of music, theater, and dance performances at SSD schools, featured 13 performances by leading arts organizations in St. Louis, reaching more than 1,300 students across St. Louis County. Additionally, the first full year of the Autism Independence Project helped 17 middle and high school students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder strengthen their social skills and expand their life goals for a more fulfilling future.
SEF’s incredible impact in helping students, their families, and educators in the SSD community is only possible through the contributions from individuals, businesses, and foundations. Your support makes a real difference, and together, we can continue to create positive change for the students and educators we serve.
Your year-end tax-deductible donation will help SEF continue to provide and expand our programs, ensuring more students, families, and educators benefit from our services. Your gift today can create lasting change for students with disabilities.
