A Gorgeous Day of Golf and Giving Back

The 23rd Annual Dan McLaughlin Charity Golf Tournament and Auction took place on Monday, October 13 at Norwood Hills Country Club, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect day to tee off for a great cause!

VolunteersSEF Board Members and staff, and special education community leaders greeted our golfers for a gorgeous day of golf and giving back to students with disabilities. The morning began with a delicious brunch for our golfers from Norwood Hills, sponsored by Assisted Transportation Services, Inc.,  and Shorty’s Putting Contest, where golfers showed off their short game skills and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Before heading out to the course, Dan McLaughlin thanked our golfers for coming out and for their continued commitment to SEF’s mission. SSD Superintendent Dr. Maclin followed by expressing his appreciation for everyone’s support of Special School District students with disabilities, whose success stories are made possible through the programs funded by this event. Their heartfelt words set the tone for a meaningful and memorable day.

Once the tournament began, golfers were treated to wonderful volunteers and local vendors, like Nobleton’s Distilling House and Lakeside Roofing, stationed on each hole, offering fun activities, refreshments, and a few surprises along the way.

As the day wound down, everyone gathered back at the clubhouse for the Happy Hour and Live Auction. During the Fund-a-Need portion of the evening, golfers became our superheroes and raised their paddles high to support SEF’s many programs benefiting students with disabilities. Then the bidding excitement began!

A few lucky winners walked away with incredible experiences — Michael King, owner of Loyet Landscape Maintenance and a loyal sponsor since the tournament’s inception, won the Kansas City Chiefs Game Weekend PackageSteve Luby took home our STL CITY SC ticket package; and Grant Washburn scored the Fort Morgan, AL Beach Vacation Package, just to name a few!

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our sponsors, golfers, volunteers, and foundation supporters who made this year’s tournament another tremendous success. Your generosity continues to make a lasting impact on the lives of students with disabilities.
