Warming Hearts This Winter—Critical Needs Coat Drive

girls on winter coats

As the cold winter months draw near, many children in our community face the season without the warmth and comfort of a proper coat. For students with disabilities, this need is often even greater. Coats must sometimes be specially sized or adapted to fit over wheelchairs, braces, or medical equipment—making a basic necessity far more complex and costly for families already carrying heavy responsibilities.

That’s why the Special Education Foundation, in partnership with the Special School District, is coming together once again for the Critical Needs Coat Drive. This campaign is about more than providing warmth— without proper winter gear, students risk missing school and can struggle to participate in outdoor activities.

This year and through January, 9, 2026, we are asking for monetary donations only so that we can purchase coats in the exact sizes and adaptive styles needed for each student. Every gift ensures that a child receives a coat that truly fits their needs, providing both comfort and confidence as they head into the winter season.

Every Dollar Counts… Donate Today

Together, with your support, we can wrap even more children in warmth and show them that their community cares. By giving, you’re not only providing warmth—you’re removing barriers, easing a parent’s worry, and making sure a child feels the same joy and comfort as their classmates when the first snow falls.

Thank you for helping us make sure every student has the protection they deserve this winter.
