About the Scholarships
John Cary Scholarship – Presented by Emerson
Established in 2016, the John Cary Scholarship recognizes the legacy of the late John Cary, former superintendent of the Special School District of St. Louis County. Each $5,000 award honors students who reflect John’s most admired traits: resiliency, courage, and determination. Recipients often exhibit exceptional achievement and have overcome significant challenges in pursuit of their goals.
Jane Vickrey Leadership Scholarship
New in 2025, this $5,000 scholarship honors Jane Vickrey, a passionate advocate for education and community service. After retiring, Jane served as secretary on SEF’s Board of Directors and as liaison to the Fred Saigh Leadership Program. This scholarship is awarded to a graduate of the Fred Saigh Leadership Academy who exemplifies kindness, compassion, and hands-on leadership.
Christopher Davis Scholarship
Since 2005, the Ronald Davis family has honored the memory of Christopher Davis, a Ritenour High School alumnus, through this $2,500 scholarship. It supports students in the Ritenour School District who show promise and dedication as they continue their education.
As these remarkable students begin the next chapter of their lives, we celebrate their accomplishments and thank the families, educators, and donors who make these opportunities possible. Together, we are propelling students to future success. Learn more about the Scholarships Program and how to apply/nominate a student.
