Program and Communications Manager

Summary

The Special Education Foundation seeks a Program and Communications Manager (PCM) to coordinate all programs funded and managed by the Special Education Foundation. This position will also work in the SEF’s donor and stakeholder database and assist with SEF events. 

The Program and Communication Manager will report to the SEF Executive Director. 

This key position with SEF will coordinate the delivery of services and equipment for all SEF programs to students and their families served by the Special School District (SSD) of St. Louis County and our educational partners (teachers and specialists) with the SSD.

SEF’s current program offerings include the following:

  • teacher mini-grants for innovative programs to help students learn
  • adaptive equipment and hearing aids that enhance independence and quality of life
  • scholarships for college-bound students to continue their education beyond high school
  • year-round and summer camps to maintain educational momentum through breaks
  • support for critical needs to pave the way for meaningful engagement in education
  • a high school leadership program that develops skills for effective members of the community
  • arts in the classroom to enhance self-esteem, increase social interaction and improve language skills

The Program and Communications Manager will work with the Executive Director to effectively market SEF programs to stakeholders, including educators, students, parents, and the community. In addition, the PCM will manage the communications with SSD, Parents/Guardians of program recipients, and other stakeholders regarding SEF programs.

The PCM will also prepare reports that measure the impact of the delivery of services, equipment, and resources to SSD students and teachers and serve as the staff liaison with the Program Committee of the SEF Board of Directors

Additional responsibilities of the PCM include assisting in the management and execution of SEF events, managing the SEF donor database, including gift and data entry, and producing reports for the Executive Director and the SEF Board of Directors.

Qualifications and Skills

An essential qualification for this position is a passion for helping children with disabilities. 

In addition, qualified applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field required and a minimum of five years of work experience in a related field.

This position requires strong interpersonal, storytelling, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to collect and interpret data and adapt program delivery in response to data insights. A key aspect of this position is also the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.

Applicants for this position should have a strong understanding of project management and an ability to coordinate multi-faceted program implementation and follow through effectively.

The PMC should be willing to execute day-to-day tasks, work independently, and have a strong understanding of special education’s role in today’s education ecosystem. In addition, applicants should be skilled at managing and prioritizing multiple projects or buckets of work.

We’re looking for someone with innovative and creative thinking skills and competency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

We also would prefer applicants who bring competency in working with donor management software. However, this is not a requirement for consideration in this position. SEF uses Bloomerang donor management software.

Compensation

Based on experience and qualifications, the annual salary range ranges from $48,000 to $57,500. In addition, SEF offers health and dental insurance for employees, with 100% of the premium covered by SEF and 50% of the spouse/partner premiums paid by SEF. We also offer a 403(b) Plan with an annual contribution by SEF equal to 3% of salary during each year of employment.
